Like the Maltese language itself, the menu is a taste of history derived from the island’s Mediterranean-semitic roots, with a contemporary twist, created using only the finest local, seasonal produce.
The menu is constructed by a multi-award winning team, previously of the Villa Brasserie in St. Julian’s, led by talented Chef de Cuisine Andrea Marchetti, and directed by 24-time award winning Chef and restauranteur Chris Hammett.

Situated in a tentative UNESCO World Heritage site in a 16th century fortification, Hammett’s Maċina Restaurant is the perfect venue for private dining and events. The menu is a culinary representation of the island’s succession of powers offering modern Mediterranean cuisine.
Dining al fresco is an unforgettable experience in the warmer months, when the imposing bastions, the fortified city of Birgu, and the spectacular harbour are illuminated by traditional Festa firework displays. During the colder months, patrons can enjoy world class wines from our wine cellar in fortified surroundings.
